Hopi Tribe Economic Development Corporation

Position:  SEEKING APPLICATIONS TO FILL FOUR (4) MEMBERS ON OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

**TWO (2) OF THE AVAILABLE POSITIONS ARE FOR HOPI/TEWA TRIBAL MEMBERS**

Description:  The HTEDC is a legal entity wholly owned by the Hopi Tribe.  The HTEDC is established under federal charter provisions making it distinct and separate from the Hopi Tribe.  A board of seven directors governs the HTEDC.  The Board is appointed by the Hopi Tribal Council, representing the sole shareholder, either a three or four-year term.

All Directors must meet the required qualifications as set forth in its By-Laws and must pass a mandatory background check.

Hopi Travel Plaza

Position:  Gift Shop Sales Clerk (Full/Part Time)

Description:  The Hopi Tribe Economic Development Corporation (HTEDC) is the development arm of the Hopi Tribe with operational enterprises in varied industries throughout Northern Arizona.  The prospective candidate should be familiar with Hopi Culture, the Hopi reservation, the type of art, the meaning of Hopi artwork well with co-workers, and be a people person.

Summary:

  • Work with sales of Gift Shop inventory
  • Demonstrate a high level of maturity in working with supervision
  • Be comfortable in taking direction from multiple people in a dynamic environment
  • Be able to seek ways to keep the Gift Shop inventory clean
  • Be knowledgeable of how to display items to catch the eye of our buyers
  • Be open to help and support office staff, without direction

Duties & Responsibilities:  

  • Be able to describe to the buyer, Hopi art and the meaning of the item
  • Have knowledge of art brought into the gift shop for retail sales
  • Keep accurate records of sales
  • Keep accurate records of inventory

Minimum Skills & Experience:

  • Must have 6 months of sales experience, and handling of money.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Excellent internal & external customer service
  • Excellent listening skills & attention to detail
  • Must pose good writing and verbal communication skills

Hopi Cultural Center

Position:  Housekeeping (Full/Part Time)

Description:  The Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring that all guests have a positive experience staying at the motel; from providing rooms that are clean & inviting, to offering impeccable customer service with quick & courteous responses to all guests' concerns.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Establish & maintain a professional positive attitude with management, co-workers, and the public
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times
  • Maintain a neat & clean professional appearance
  • Handle guest concerns in an efficient and satisfactory manner
  • Maintain necessary stock in housekeeping cleaning cart
  • Inform management in a timely manner of any issues that need to be resolved
  • Clean the facility with designated products following OSHA & motel regulations
  • Replace any room supplies to bring the correct amount that meets the needs of the guest
  • Inform management of any damage and/or broken items in rooms and or facility
  • Follow other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or General Manager

Education & Training:  Possess a High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Previous experience in guest relations
  • 2 yrs. experience in housekeeping in a hospitality setting
  • Possess knowledge of local area's attractions and activities

Position:  Line Cook (Full/Part Time)

Description:  The Line Cook performs a variety of tasks to prepare various food products and food items and sets up allocated stations.  Additionally, the Line Cook assumes responsibility for the operation and breakdown of the buffet and food displays.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Establish & maintain a professional positive attitude with management, co-workers, and the public
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times
  • Maintain a neat & clean professional appearance
  • Identify and report any food setup issues to management
  • Ensure all food is handled in the utmost highest hygenic standards
  • Modifies entrees to meet specific client requests
  • Prepares all entrees according to provided recipes and product directions
  • Maintain records to accurately plan production & requisition of supplies and/or equipment
  • Complete HCAAP logs
  • Follow all Food and Physical Safety Policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or General Manager

Education & Training:  Possess a High School Diploma or GED

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 6-12 months of experience as a Lead Cook or 1-3 yrs. general restaurant cooking experience
  • Experience working with industrial cooking machinery

Description:  First point of contact for all hotel guests.  Because of this important position, it is the responsibility of the Front Desk Clerk to ensure that all guests have an exceptional experience staying at the hotel, by providing exceptional customer service and responsive guest interaction.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Establish & maintain a professional positive attitude with management, co-workers, and the public
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times

  • Maintain a presence at the front desk at all times to greet incoming and outgoing guests
